Forming the central focal point within an internal leaded door panel, this lovely old piece of gilded glass unfortunately ended up with multiple fractures following shenanigans by a client’s two young sons. We were subsequently contacted to ask if we could help?

Glass gilding is a highly specialised craft and one which we had to admit was beyond our skill-set or experience so we set about locating someone who had the necessary skills.

Having made enquiries through an online forum dedicated to all things glass, we were put in touch with Torquay based ornamental glass artist and traditional signwriter David Smith. Following a telephone call to David in which it was confirmed he was the man for the job, the damaged piece was duly packaged up and posted off only to be returned a week later along with an exact replica. 

Now back in place within the door and with the clients sons likely to be working off the cost of the replacement glass for many months to come, we were very pleased to have made a great contact in Dave who’s skills and workmanship are second to none.
