Production Completed on New Memorial Church Stained Glass Window
The full production process of this new commission, featuring St. Bernadette and Lourdes Basilica, is now complete following around 10 weeks work in the studio. This process included scaling up of our original design draft to a full size working cartoon, glass selection and cutting, glass painting and kiln firing (including enameling and acid etching), leading up, soldering, cementing, glass cleaning and lead polishing. It has been executed in a mixture of antique cathedral glass, forming the main rectangular back-ground, and mouth-blown cylinder glass used for St. Bernadette, the Basilica, and the borders.
Due for installation before the end of April 2015, it was commissioned by the church in memorial of former Priest, Fr. James Christie who had devoted a good deal of his life to Lourdes.
Our images show various stages of the production process from design to completion.
