The centre panel of this 1950’s triple light stained glass window at St. Mary’s Church Thornton-in-Craven was partially destroyed following a burglary. Proving to be an exceptionally challenging restoration & conservation project; this involved salvaging and piecing back together of 100’s of tiny fragments of glass, extensive re-painting works and full re-leading. On re-installation the window was protected externally with polycarbonate.
Our images show the extent of the damage and various stages of the restoration and conservation process.
