Here is a commission we produced and installed recently on behalf of a private residence client in Blackburn. The panel is based on the distinctive style of the renowned American architect and interior designer Frank Lloyd Wright.
Positioned within the old serving-hatch between the clients dining room and kitchen, the piece makes use of a mixture of clear textured glasses including Muffle, Antique Cathedral and Artista contrasted against a subtle palette of yellow, green and gray cylinder glass. Serving to provide both a focal point within the two rooms and a degree of privacy between each, the panel appears to have a great deal of movement and sparkle due to its contrasting glasses.
Wright (1867 – 1959) believed in designing structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment; a philosophy he called “Organic Architecture”. He lived a long and colourful life that saw over half of the 1000 structures he designed actually completed and in 1991 was recognized by the American Institute of Architects as “the greatest American architect of all time”.
